EMILIE WASHINGTON

SUPPLEMENTARY

MEZZO-SOPRANO

Emilie Washington is a mezzo-soprano who completed her Bachelor of Music (2021) and Honours Degree (2022) at The University of Melbourne’s Conservatorium of Music. In 2024, Emilie also completed her Master of Teaching (Secondary) Degree at The University of Melbourne, specialising in Music and Psychology.

In high school, Emilie undertook work experience with the Victorian Opera, supporting her to pursue her passion for opera and classical music! Since then, she has been a member of the Victorian Opera Youth Chorus Ensemble (2017-2021), and has performed in the chorus of many operas with the Victorian Opera (‘Cunning Little Vixen’, ‘The Second Hurricane’, ‘The Magic Pudding’, ‘Parsifal’, and ‘Il Mago di Oz’), and Melbourne Opera (‘Götterdämmerung’, ‘Lucia di Lammermoor’, ‘Suor Angelica’ as part of the Puccini Gala, ‘La Bohème’, and ‘Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg’). Emilie also performed the role of Tessa in ‘The Gondoliers’ and Tilli Veit in ‘Lilac Time’ with Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Victoria.

In Berlin, Emilie performed the role of Dritte Knabe in Mozart’s ‘Die Zauberflöte’ with the Berlin Opera Academy, as part of their 2023 International Summer Festival Singers Program. She was also awarded the “Vladimir Piontkovsky Memorial Scholarship” out of hundreds of global applicants. As part of this program, Emilie successfully completed her role study as Komponist from Strauss’ opera ‘Ariadne auf Naxos’.
