MEZZO SOPRANO
RECIPIENT OF THE JAMIE AND PRUE PARRISH SCHOLARSHIP

Esther Gresswell is an operatically trained Mezzo-soprano who holds a Bachelors Degree of Music (2017) from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music under the tutelage of and Roger Howell.

Throughout her time at the Melbourne Conservatorium Esther followed her immense passion for opera and performance through being heavily involved in varying peformance projects such as The Melbourne Conservatorium's production of Monteverdi's Orfeo (2017) and an array of performance ensembles. Esther furthered her performance experience with her first production, The Gondoliers, with Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Victoria (2016), playing the role of Vittoria. Following this season, Esther joined Melbourne Opera's chorus for Suzanne Chaundy's production of Wagner's Tannhäuser (2016) and has since been involved with their production's of Donizetti's Anna Bolena (2016), Wagner's Lohengrin (2017) and Wagner's Flying Dutchman (2018). In 2018, Esther was thrilled to make her operatic debut with Savoy Opera's production of The Gondoliers playing Tessa.

Esther has had many solo performances in 2018, of particular note were performances at White Night Melbourne & Bendigo and Favourite Moments in Opera at the Darebin Arts Centre. Esther's was a featured soloist at Opera in the Alps as well as taking part in Masterclasses with Tiffany Speight and John Bolton Wood. She also performed alongside acclaimed international artists Milijana Nikolic, Rosario LaSpina, Teddy Tahu Rhodes and Taryn Fiebig and performed solo at Opera in the Market.

In March Esther made her international debut covering the roles of Cherubino and Marcellina for the Australian International Opera Company's  tour of Le Nozze de Figaro for their 2019 tour or China. Esther has also taken part of a director's workshop playing Marcellina for Le Nozze de Figaro as part of Lyric Opera.
