MEZZO SOPRANO
Kate Pengelly is a third-year student at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, studying under the tuition of Linda Barcan. Following her experience as a chorister, Kate has enjoyed a range of performance opportunities, such as singing Dido in VOYCE's Dido and Aeneas (2023). Other performances include Victorian Opera's Emerging Artists productions Il Mago di Oz (2022) and Melbourne, Cheremushki (2023), as well as the University of Melbourne's staging of Die Zauberflöte (2023).
Outside of opera, Kate has a passion for Lieder and Art Song repertoire. She was honoured to be a finalist in the 2023 Liederfest, and receive first place for Lieder in the Ringwood Eisteddfod. Last year Kate had the privilige of working alongside Dr Graham Johnson as part of the MCM Art Song Festival. She is excited to be joining Opera Scholars Australia in 2024 and continue developing her craft.
