LEAH PHILLIPS

RECIPIENT OF THE JOHN DORRINGTON & PAM VALLENCE SCHOLARSHIP
Leah Phillips is a versatile soprano who holds a Bachelor of Music from Monash University and Bachelor of Music (Honours) in music performance from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. She is in her third season with Opera Scholars Australia (OSA).
In addition to recital, OSA concerts and eisteddfod appearances, she has performed various in opera, operetta, oratorio and musical theatre productions across Melbourne. Ensemble credits include Melbourne Opera (Der Fliegende Hollander, Lohengrin), XL Arts (Dido and Aeneas, Un ballo in maschera) and Melbourne Conservatorium of Music (Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, Monteverdi's L'Orfeo). Leah has also covered the roles of Olive Hargrave (Fly, Lyric Opera) Yum Yum (The Mikado, Savoy Opera) and Euridice (Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo, Melbourne University).
In 2019, Leah was cast as Sister Bernadette in Babirra Musical Theatre’s production of The Sound of Music and in the ensemble of The Wizard of Oz with Nova Musical Theatre.
Leah has been a chorister with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Monash University Singers, Melbourne University Early Voices and regularly cantors for various churches across Melbourne.
Off stage, Leah has worked for Opera Australia in regional touring and outreach and is currently employed at the Australian Music Examinations Board in Marketing and Communications.
