LUCY HOOD
MEZZO-SOPRANO
SUPPLEMENTARY
Lucy is a Classical mezzo-soprano currently completing her Honours degree at Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. She has a rich instrumental background in Piano, Strings and Woodwind, and began her music degree as a Clarinettist. Lucy was a self-taught singer during secondary school, and ultimately her passion for singing and Opera was too strong not to pursue; within 6 months she changed her major to Classical Voice, studying under Suzanne Johnston. In 2022 Lucy was the recipient of the Muriel Cheek Memorial Scholarship, and later that year was a member of the chorus in the University of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 2. Since then, Lucy has regularly performed with the St James Old Cathedral consort choir and St Peter’s Toorak 2025-26 concert series both as a soloist and ensemble, and in July of this year worked with The Song Company in their Sydney-based Apprentice Week.
Recently, Lucy was a Finalist for both the 2025 OSA Art Song and Aria awards and won the Grace Durling Encouragement Award at the University of Melbourne. Last November, Lucy served as a cover for the role of Cora in Victorian Opera’s production of Boojum!. As she completes the final year of her undergraduate studies, Lucy hopes to emerge as a versatile Operatic and recital artist both in Australia and internationally, and hopes to expand into the Jazz genre alongside her career in Opera.
